PEACE OF MIND
A common question I often hear from students is 'How can I become more balanced and achieve peace of mind?'. There's an easy answer, and the best part, its free! Its called meditation - a practice that allows you to quiet the mind and get in touch with your higher self.
Besides being good for the spirit, scientific studies have shown it to be excellent for reducing stress and boosting the immune system. My favorite meditation is the most basic one called the 'Grounding Meditation'. This practice is found in many traditions as it is the Foundation for all other energy work.
One of the basic principles of energy work, is the concept that visualizing images in your mind actually has an effect on your body both energetically and physically. If you can imagine gold light beaming your whole body it will actually clean your energy and raise your vibration. The best thing about this is its totally free and the effect is immediate, as soon as you visualize it, the energies are already working. If you can imagine it, it is happening.
THE GROUNDING MEDITATION
An ideal setting for meditation is one where you can sit in peace without any distractions. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time so you don't have to rush. You'll also need a chair to sit on as this is a seated mediation, but not in the traditional lotus or 'zazen' style. Seat yourself on the chair with your shoes off, barefoot or with socks, feet flat on the ground. Keep your legs straight, do not cross them. You are now ready to begin.
Seat yourself with your feet flat on the ground, palms facing up resting on your thighs. Close your eyes with your head facing forward. Take ten slow deep breaths, inhale and exhale slowly. Imagine with each breath you're expelling all the stress, tension and unwanted energy of the day, and when inhaling bring nice clean energy into your body. Do this ten times.
Visualize your body from the outside, see yourself sitting in the chair. Focus in on your 1st chakra which is located between the base of your spine and your gentials (basically where your behind meets the chair).
What we will check now is your Grounding Cord. This is a fundamental part of the Grounding Meditation. The Grounding Cord is a long energetic cord that keeps you connected and rooted to Planet Earth. The grounding cord starts at your 1st chakra where you're seated and goes all the way down to the center of the Earth where it hooks in and wraps around the Earth's core. Your grounding cord can look like a tree root, a rope or metal chain, whatever is best for you.
Check your Grounding Cord, how does it look? Does it reach the center of the Earth? If you're ungrounded or haven't done a mediation in awhile, chances are that your cord maybe be short, dirty or worn, or you may not see a grounding cord at all! If you want to clean your grounding cord, visualize some gold brushes cleaning and polishing it to a shiny gold color. OR if you want to create a completely new grounding cord, you can move to the next step.
Making a new grounding cord. First make sure you cut or drop your old grounding cord and send it to the center of the Earth. You can now imagine your new grounding cord as a long rope, a big tree root, thick vines, a metal chain, or even an energy beam that connects to the center of the Earth. Whatever image works for you is fine as long as it makes a solid connection between your 1st chakra and the center of the Earth.
Imagine that your grounding cord is a bright gold color. Gold is a high frequency color and keeps your energy nice and healthy. Now visualize your grounding cord growing from where your behind is seated on your chair, all the way down to the center of the Earth. Make sure that it connects and wraps securely to the center of the Earth. If you are using tree roots, have them grow and lock firmly into the center of the earth.
You have now created your Grounding Cord! This is the foundation of all energy work. See how your energy feels now and compare to when you first started the meditation. You should be much more balanced and stable.
Now that we have established a good grounding cord, we can move to the next step. Imagine yourself seated in the center of your head. Locate the space between your ears and looking out of your forehead. This is your command center. You can imagine this to be like the bridge in Star Trek, complete with a nice captain's chair for you to sit in. Look around, if there's anyone else there, tell them to leave as this is your body and you are in charge here.
Now that you have your 'command center' all to yourself, look around and take note of what you see. If you've never done a meditation before, I can guarantee its going to be pretty dirty. Again its no problem, just imagine some gold brushes or kitchen sponges and visualize cleaning the dirt away. You can even visualize a high pressure water hose and spray the dirt away too. Use your imagination, see what works for you.
Next imagine that there's a trap door in the floor that connects to your grounding cord and goes all the way to the center of the Earth. All the waste that you clean up can go down this trash chute. If there any files, boxes or things that shouldn't be in your command center, you can throw those away as well.
If your trash chute gets stuck, send some gold light and push it all the way down to the center of the Earth. Keep cleaning until the room is totally clean. When you're done have a look around, 360 degrees. How does it look? You should feel a lot cleaner and lighter than when you started. If you want to start again, go ahead. The cleaning is done when you feel its done.
Once you feel nice and balanced, you're ready to complete your first grounding meditation! Imagine filling your body with nice high energy golden light from head to toe. Fill in all those spaces you just cleaned with this high energy gold light. Keep visualizing until you feel satisfied you're filled with this healing gold light.
FINISHING THE MEDITATION
Take a few slow, deep breaths - inhale and exhale. Bend over and and touch the floor to drain off any excess energy. For intuitive and psychic people, this is also a great opportunity for you to drain off any excess energy you've accumulated during the day. That's it! A grounding mediation may seem like a lot of steps, but once you have it down, it will become very easy.
If you can do this grounding meditation daily it will create a solid foundation for spiritual, mental and physical health. Even once or a few times a week will make a tremendous difference. The Grounding Meditation comes first, before all other energy work, so practice it step by step until you feel comfortable with it. I hope you enjoyed this free tutorial, have fun and stay grounded!
